Meet Kirk Cooper from Film Market Access – PR, Marketing and Festival Consultant extraordinaire. Ok where do I start? .This guy basically made the trip (Festival de Cannes) what it was. Thank you thank you thank you! If you’re a new filmmaker I HIGHLY recommend linking with Kirk for next year’s festival Cannes or even for TIFF this September here in T.O.

-Reza Dahya (Praticipant in the Cannes Short Film Corner/ Director of the film ESHA 2011

I really enjoyed TIFF. In relation to Cannes, It was a much more relaxed environment, the accomodations were much nicer, and I had much more access to screenings and events.I also enjoyed being among such a small group of students. Kirk was a wonderful program director and facilitator. He made sure to reach out to all of us, brought us to events that pertained to our individual passions, and was always very approachable.

-Zuri Adele (Participant in the Toronto Program 2011)

I got a few meetings, went to a few parties, met lots of other filmmakers, etc. I did a lot of work. I didn’t really expect to seal a deal at Cannes while I was there since I am still new at this. But surprisingly I met a lot of people in Cannes at the Canada Pavilion. More so there than anywhere else in Cannes. Now that I’m back, I’m following up and meeting up with people here. I have a drink meeting already set-up for next week. I have a strong feeling they can help me further along.

-Suya Lee (Participant in the Cannes Short Film Corner and FMA 2008)

April 2006, my short film, ‘Black Leather Soles’ was selected as part of the ReelWorld Film Festival in which Kirk Cooper was the programmer. After the festival, Kirk told me he was going to Cannes and it would be good for me to go and pitch my up-coming film projects. I took him up on his offer. I had a great time attending the gala, the parties, the films, meeting people – so much to do at this festival. Cannes is a filmmaker’s playground. Once you’ve been there, you will be addicted. Cannes rocks! I recommend Film Market Access – a dream come true!
